Abstract
Abstract Microsatellites are short tandemly repeated sequences of DNA (commonly referred to as short tandem repeats, STRs ) that are found throughout the genome. They are analyzed by forensic biology laboratories throughout the world as they are highly polymorphic and are amenable to PCR and automation. Microsatellites superseded minisatellites, which are larger repeated units of DNA interspersed throughout the genome and were previously used for forensic DNA analysis.
A significance statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
A contribution statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.

Findings are not separately available in the OpenAlex metadata.
Limitations are not available in the OpenAlex metadata.
