Abstract

This chapter highlights other highly relevant topics for foreign currency reporting. Currency redenomination, devaluations, and revaluations are discussed. It provides overviews of significant events such as hyperinflation, euro adoption, and disposal of a foreign operation. Inventory measured in a foreign currency and simple hedging is reviewed as well. It also discusses hedge, which reduces the company's exposure to fluctuating exchange rates for a small transaction cost, usually built into the rate quoted for the forward contract. The hedge also eliminates the potential for any foreign currency gain.
