Abstract

Abstract Family lineage is defined as a group of people who are related to each other as the direct descendants of a particular ancestor. While the term is used synonymously with family trees and genograms, family lineage specifically follows the descendants of a single progenitor or ancestor. On the maternal side, this is referred to as matrilineage and on the paternal side it is referred to as patrilineage.
