Abstract

Abstract De.flu.vi.i.ta.le.a.ce'a.e. N.L. n. Defluviitalea , type genus of the family; suff. ‐ aceae , ending to denote a family; N.L. fem. pl. n. Defluviitaleaceae , the Defluviitalea family. The family Defluviitaleaceae belongs to the order Clostridiales . To date, it is currently represented by only one genus containing two validly named species and one species whose name has not been validated. The genus Defluviitalea is phylogenetically distant to the genera Parasporobacterium, Clostridium spp., and Robinsoniella, pertaining to the family Lachnospiraceae with sequence similarity of the 16S rRNA gene of approximately 87%. The delineation of the novel family Defluviitaleaceae was primarily based on phylogenetic, metabolic, and physiological characteristics, with Defluviitalea as the type genus of the family. DNA G + C content (mol%) : 35.2. Type genus : Defluviitalea Jabari, Gannoun, Cayol, Hamdi, Fauque, Ollivier and Fardeau 2012, 553 VP . Taxonomic and Nomenclature Notes According to the List of Prokaryotic names with Standing in Nomenclature (LPSN), the taxonomic status of the family Defluviitaleaceae is: correct name (last update, April 2026) * . LPSN classification: Bacteria / Bacillati / Bacillota / Clostridia / Eubacteriales / Defluviitaleaceae The family Defluviitaleaceae can also be recovered in the Genome Taxonomy Database (GTDB) as f__Defluviitaleaceae (version v232) ** . GTDB classification: d__Bacteria / p__Bacillota / c__Clostridia / o__Lachnospirales / f__Defluviitaleaceae * Freese , H.M. , Meier‐Kolthoff , J.P. , Sardà Carbasse , J. , Afolayan , A.O. , Göker , M.
