The Disappearing Gender Identities and Sexuality: Compulsory Heterosexuality as a Political Ideology in China

The concepts of gender and sexuality are two historically interrelated structures.These two structure, and the ways they interact with other embodied experiences such as class, race, religion and dis/ability, are the subject of intense regulation by institutions.This article attempts to demonstrate how gender and sexuality are regulated in contemporary society by using policy and social change in the nation of China as a case study.
