Abstract
The performance of the corrugated horn and the smooth-wall profiled horn as extended C- and Ku- band reflector feed is investigated in this paper. The corrugated horn exhibits low cross-polar levels and sidelobes across all 4 bands and enables the cross-polar discrimination (XPD) within the -1dB beamwidth of the secondary patterns to be met. The smooth-walled horn shows higher cross-polar levels and sidelobes but the resulting secondary patterns still marginally meets the required XPD level. The secondary pattern gains for both feed types meet the nominal requirements with those from the corrugated feed showing higher gain at C-band but have similar gain at Ku-band.
