Abstract
A company’s primary purpose is to make a profit, which can be achieved once the revenue exceeds expenses. Revenue management is a system that focuses on achieving higher profitability by managing and increasing revenues. These systems aim to provide a competitive advantage for businesses. American Airlines developed a formalized method of managing and controlling their revenues to overcome this issue, which was called yield management. However, the term yield management was debated due to its limitations in describing the various revenue management approaches. Revenue management aims to create the optimal solutions while taking average price and capacity utilization into consideration, and this term was believed to be better suited to expanding the purpose of yield management. In time, the term revenue management has become widely accepted and used by various industries
