Abstract
The purpose of this qualitative study was to explore special education teachers' experiences, especially the challenges they encountered during the implementation of assistive technology tools in special education. Participants were seven special education teachers in the special education sectors of Southern Mississippi. Data was collected through in-depth individual semi-structured interviews. The findings of this study indicated that the special education teachers were underprepared in college and lack of professional training in work to implement assistive technology tools into instruction adequately. In addition, the findings of this study show the lack of leadership in integrating assistive technology into the classroom.
