Abstract

Nitrous oxide reductase (N 2 OR) is the only known enzyme that can reduce the powerful greenhouse gas nitrous oxide (N 2 O) to harmless nitrogen at the final step of bacterial denitrification. The recombinant E. coli and wild strain WXP-4 demonstrate strong N 2 O reduction ability.
