Abstract

Abstract Ptolemy VII was the youngest son of Ptolemy VI Philometor and Cleopatra II. Very little is known about him and even his existence has been doubted. From 118bcea “Theos Neos Philopator” (= God Young Father‐Loving) is evident in two forms of genealogies listing the divine royal ancestors. He is mentioned after his brother Ptolemy Eupator and before Ptolemy VIII, but it is not completely clear which person is meant, so it could either be Ptolemy VII or, perhaps more likely, Ptolemy Memphites.
