Abstract

Abstract This chapter explores the law of negligence. It explains the concepts of a duty of care and what amounts to a breach of that duty. It also considers the importance of causation in the law and the need to prove that the negligent act caused the loss to the claimant. The chapter also explains how damages are assessed under the tort of negligence.
