Abstract
Electricity consumption in Finland varies quite strongly, according to seasons and times of day. However, it is possible to direct loads and to balance the fluctuation of electricity consumption and the authors show that tariffs are one such possibility of influencing load management. They describe how Imatran Voima Oy (IVO), the biggest electricity producer and wholesaler in Finland, has been investigating the possibilities of load management in its own R&D project. The project is concentrated on both direct and indirect control of load. As subjects of an investigation have been for example electric heating, load control possibilities of demand tariff customers and interruptible loads of industry. >
