Export Performance of Bangladesh Textile and Garment Industry in Major International Markets

Textile and garment industry is the dominating industry of Bangladesh.The industry is playing significant role in employment generation, export earnings, foreign exchange earnings, poverty alleviation, and women empowerment of the country.This study tried to analyze the export performance of Bangladesh textile and garment industry in major international markets.The industry is performing better performance in EU market and its performance level is upgrading there day by day.It remained one of few important garment suppliers to USA market in the recent past by the virtue of export quota system though it was not so strong like other international suppliers.But the industry's performance in Canadian, Japanese, or other international markets is not satisfac tory at all.When compared with other international suppliers, especially with China or India, Bangladesh's performance remains far behind others though she is approaching slowly to be their prominent competitor in major international markets.
