Abstract

A total of 2,349 larvae, 690 pupae and 10 adults of blackflies (Simuliidae : Diptera) were collected from 33 sites in 2 districts of Ishikawa Prefecture. Fourteen species were found, of which Prosimulium yezoense, Prosimulium kiotoense, Simulium japonicum, Simulium mie, Simulium konoi, Simulium rufibasis, Simulium sp. 1 and Simulium sp. 2 were newly recorded from the prefec ure. Predominant species was Simulium uchidai, followed by Simulium japonicum, Simllium sp. 1 and Simulium aokii.
