2007 Annual Update on the Journal of Applied Research in the Community College

New JARCC Executive Editor In June 2006, I was pleased to take over the editorship of JARCC from Mary Kinnick. My first year in this role has been rewarding and productive. Together with our excellent editorial team and publisher, we have had the opportunity to bring to our readers high quality and diverse articles that we hope find direct applications in our jobs and campuses. I look forward to the upcoming year! Published Issues During this past year, the Spring 2006 (Vol. 13, No. 2) and Fall 2006 (Vol. 14, No.l) issues were published. The Spring 2006 issue, a special issue on Community College Student Transitions, was guestedited by Richard Voorhees and Gregory Smith. The Fall 2006 issue was the last regular issue edited by Mary Kinnick and was the first issue to offer both Toolbox and Research Brief articles. The Spring 2007 issue was also published and it is on its way to the NCCCRP members and other subscribers as of this writing. The Spring 2007 issue consisted of a number of excellent articles, including two 2005-2006 best papers: the NCCCRP best paper and the best paper of the Research and Planning Group for California Community Colleges. Issues in Progress At the writing of this annual report, May 31, 2007, all articles for the Fall 2007 issue have been identified and are in final editing stages. Publisher JARCC remains at New Forums Press, and Doug Dollar, the publisher, has worked with us to revise the cover and the print quality. In addition, we are working with Doug on the possibility of providing online access to JARCC. New Associate Editors In November of 2006, 1 appointed a new Associate Editor, Marc Beam, to the editorial team. Marc is the Director of Institutional Research at Kern Community College District in Lancaster, California. Marc replaced Dr. Frank Abou-Sayf of Kapiolani Community College in Honolulu, Hawaii, who served as associate editor for the Toolbox articles since August 2005. We extend our thanks to Frank for all contributions he has made to the journal. In March of 2007, 1 appointed Barbara McNeice-Stallard as Associate Editor. Barbara is Director of Research and Institutional Effectiveness at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, California. Marc and Barbara bring great expertise, dedication and enthusiasm to the editorial team. Both appointments are for four years. Editorial Advisory Board (EAB) During 2006-2007, no new members were appointed to the EAB. Board members review manuscripts, advise the editors on the quality of the manuscripts and appropriateness for publication in JARCC, and offer critical and helpful feedback to authors. …
