Abstract

Andhra Pradesh is one of the biggest maritime States of India \nhaving a coastline of about 980 km, a continental shelf area of 31,000 \nsq. km, 453 marine fishing villages and 280 landing centres along \nnine coastal districts including two major functional fishing harbours \nat Visakhapatnam and Kakinada with two others \nat Bhukanapadu and Nizampatnarn coming tip. \nThe contribution of Andhra Pradesh to marine fish production is about 1,3 1,009 t ( 1985-1992) With several pelagic and demersal fin \nand shell fish resources available off the coast, the state enjoys a prominent place in the marine fisheries of India
