Abstract
Book presents a guideline for the structural analysis and design of prestressed steel bridges, such as plate girders, box-type structures, arches, and cable trusses. Methods of prestressing steel structures, including the widely used method of tendons, are discussed. The text summarizes experience with the method of structural design for constructing new prestressed steel bridges and strengthening old bridges. It provides an up-to-date practical reference book on the subject. It is also intended to provide designers of prestressed steel bridges and postgraduate students with criteria and methods for the design of such structures. Examples of notable small-, medium- and large-span highway and railway bridge designs from around the world are given.
