Abstract
In this paper an Artificial Neural Network is used to control the outlet steam pressure of a boiler accompanying to a PID controller with constant PID parameters. The load will change and acts as the disturbance. The Neural Controller is trained on-line and the main control signal is the summation of the PID controller signal and that of the Neural Controller's. The PID parameters are constant. Simulations are done by the MATLAB software on a Drum Type boiler and show the efficiency of this method to control the outlet steam pressure and maintain it at its per unit value. Also the main steam flow should follow the load.
