An analytical study h a s been conducted to determine the capability of a conventional autopilot s y s t e m to control a subsonic jet-transport airplane i n s e v e r e turbulence.Various configurations of a simplified three-axis attitude-hold autopilot w e r e evaluated to determine a n optimum configuration f o r prevention of lateral upsets caused by r e v e r s a l of dihedral effect.
