Abstract

The antioxidant activity of ethanol extracts of eight kinds of Phellinus baumii fruiting body and their protective effects against oxidative damage of nerve cells were investigated by chemiluminometry and a model of PC12 oxidative damage by H2O2.The results showed that all the extracts had a good antioxidant activity.The extract from PB-10 had the greatest activity and its IC50 was 3.76 μgmL for superoxide anion and 4.24 μgmL for hydrogen peroxide.All the extracts at the concentration of 10 μgmL had good protective and repair effects on PC12 cells damaged by H2O2,and the extract from PB-10 could reach(72.5±0.3)% repair rate at the concentration of 10 μgmL and up to(90.7±3.6)% at 150 μgmL.There were positive correlations between the antioxidant activities and protective effects of all the extracts and the flavone concentrations of them.
