Abstract
As invoIute helical gears are generally used in gear transmission mechanism, their general expressions were studied. These expressions consist of ; number of teeth, number of teeth in contact, pressure angle, face width, addendum, deddendum, maximum specific sliding, gear ratio, tooth thickness and helix angle. By the aid of these expressions, for example, it becomes easy to design these gears for the purpose of "Number of teeth in contact" and "Maximum specific sliding" in the most variable way. Furthermore, the solution of invoIvte spur gear can be solved from these expressions as the special case of helix angle 0° ; and, it can also be designed by simple calculation.
