Abstract
Heat pump technology is evaluated in terms of current status and trends in heat pump design and performance. The suitability of heat pumps for residential heating, the market prospects and manufacturing industry for heat pumps, and specific programs sponsored by electric utilities and government agencies for promoting and demonstrating agencies for promoting and demonstrating the use of heat pumps are discussed.
