Abstract

Abstract : This research develops a tool to aid Air Force decision makers in the acquisition of a new trainer aircraft family of systems. The study utilizes discrete event simulation to model the effects a prospective aircraft family of systems has on the flow of student pilots through training processes. Previous research has produced models for student throughput or aircraft availability, this research focuses on the intersection of both. Analysis of results provides insights into the quantity of resources required at the differing levels of performance to sustain a desired throughput of pilot graduates.
