Abstract
This chapter describes the mineral contents of animal manures and farmyard manure, and their effects on sugarbeet yield; nutrient content of sewage sludge; rules for the application of sewage sludge or biosolids in the European Union and the USA; and effects of composted materials (straw and other wastes) and green manures on soil properties and sugarbeet yield. Guidelines on land conversion, land selection and rotational considerations, soil improvement and tillage under organic soyabean production are provided.
