Abstract
Objective To investigate the role of chemokines in peritoneal fluid on pathogenesis of endometriosis(EM).Methods Monocyte chemoattractant protein-1(MCP-1),regulated upon activation normal T cell expressed and secreted(RANTES)contents in peritoneal fluid(PF) of 30 cases with EM were detected by enzyme linked immunoabsorbent assay(ELISA) and compared with the counterparts of 30 cases without EM(controls) in the Affiliated Hospital of Guiyang Medical College, between May 2005 and March 2006.The correlation analyses between chemokine concentrations in peritoneal fluid of EM patients and the severity of EM or dysmenorrhea score were performed. Results The peritoneal fluid from patients with EM contained significantly greater amounts of RANTES and MCP-1[(1228.41±317.96)ng/L,(996.24±246.84)ng/L] than those in controls respectively [(259.78±138.19)ng/L,(171.50±104.93)ng/L,P all0.001].A significant correlation between PF chemokines content and the severity of disease was noted(P 0.05).A significant correlation between PF chemokines content and dysmenorrhea score was noted(P 0.01).A significant correlation between MCP-1 and RANTES content in peritoneal fluid was noted(P0.001),but there were no evidences of a relationship between concentrations of two chemokines and dysmenorrhea score(P0.05).Conclusion MCP-1 and RANTES may play an important role in the pathogenesis of endometriosis.
