Abstract
To further understand the mechanism of disease resistance regulated by OsWRKY80 gene, the resistances of OsWRKY80 overexpression and suppression transgenic plants to rice blast were determined, and the Northern hybridization analysis was performed on the expressions of OsWRKY80 gene and pathogenesis-related(PR)genes(ZB8,PBZ1)in transgenic plants under normal and induction conditions. The results showed that compared with suppression transgenic plants and nontransgenic control plants, the overexpression transgenic plants revealed a rather good resistance to rice blast. The hybridization results indicated that the inducible expression of endogenous OsWRKY80 gene in suppression transgenic plants was inhibited, and there was a certain positive correlation between the disease resistance of transgenic plants and the expression of OsWRKY80 gene.In the suppression transgenic plants no expression of ZB8 and PBZ1 was detected. At 24 h after the nontransgenic plants and ovexpression transgenic plants were inoculated with the germ of rice blast, the inducible expression of ZB8 and PBZ1 was detected and significantly stronger in the overexpression transgenic plants than in the nontransgenic control ones. The above results indicated that as a positive regulatory factor,OsWRKY80 gene could participate in the defense response of rice, and the high-level inducible expression of PR genes could result in enhanced resistance of transgenic plants to rice blast.
