Abstract

A comparative study on the detection of HCV antigen and the detection of its antibody as well as the HCV-RNA was made in order to evaluate the value of the HCV antigen detection for the clinical use,in which the results of detecting HCV antigen,HCV antibody and HCV-RNA in blood samples by means of the diagnostic kids were compared.It was found that there were 28 HCV antigen-positive samples in 39 samples of HCV-RNA positive samples(71.8%) and from 116 HCV-RNA negative samples,one HCV antigen positive sample was demonstrated.Meanwhile,in 96 HCV antibody samples,47 samples were HCV antigen positive(48.96%).No HCV antibody negative sample was showed to be HCV antigen positive.It is concluded that HCV antigen detection may not be functionally enough to screen the HCV infection,but it may be used as the confirmative test for the detection of HCV antibody and also serve as an alternative method of assay of HCV-RNA detection.
