Abstract

Criteria for social economic and commercial estimates of petroleum deposits are discussed. Starting from an estimate of a hypothetical deposit, the extent to which commercial estimates to a reasonable degree fulfill social economic objectives is analyzed, especially with respect to choice of degree of recovery.
