Economic Analysis of Army Enlistments: Policy Implications

This paper documents two complementary studies of Army enlistments. Section I reports the updating and further development of a basic time-series cross-section (TSCS} model, which analyzes the supply of nonprior service (NPS), male, upper mental category enlistments. Section II describes an extension of the TSCS analysis, which focuses on enlistments at the occuptional level, and makes an exploratory attempt to measure the effects of bonuses among occupations. The third section presents the conclusions.
