Student Flow Simulation Model for Navy Consolidated Electronic Warfare Training

Abstract

This report describes an applied training research study in the use of computer simulation being conducted for the Chief of Naval Education and Training (CNET) by the Training Analysis and Evaluation Group (TAEG). The study is a subelement of the Consolidated Navy Electronic Warfare School (CNEWS) training system program. The results of this applied research task should help improve the processes of planning, developing, and scheduling of training courses within CNEWS, including maintenance and operator training, officer and enlisted, common-core basic and advanced equipment-specific 'C' school level courses, as well as individualized (self-paced) and lock-step (group-paced) training. To achieve its purpose, TAEG was assisted by the University of Central Florida's Industrial Engineering and Management Systems Department who will develop the computer simulation model of EW student flow and CNEWS training resource/facility utilization during phase II of the study. When completed, the model will be used by the training command as a planning tool in support of further development and implementation of the CNEWS individualized training curriculum. (Author)
