A Five-Year Summary of a Remedial Reading Program.

efforts to develop a remedial program in El Paso, Texas, began in 1963 with a one-school, one-teacher summer program. Although other schools within the district soon included similar courses in their regular school year curriculum, little impetus was gained until the passage of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965. Since that time the remedial program has mushroomed and reading laboratories have been established in forty-two schools, twenty-seven of which are Title I. The following five-year survey concerns the maturation of the Title I phase of this program.
