Abstract
Biomass energy is a form of renewable energy that has been knowing a constant growth over the past few years. The process of direct combustion allows all kinds of biomass to be transformed into useful heat. While its purposes are varied, heating is the most popular use of this energy source. This paper details different aspects related to biomass energy and the process of converting biomass to energy. Factors that distinguish adequate types of biomass for generating energy are detailed. The result of switching from conventional energies to biomass energy is illustrated with a case study in Morocco. The study analyzes different factors such as the consistency of usage of biomass heating, the cost of implementation, as well as an assessment of CO2Emissions generated from heating. In this paper, biomass energy is discussed as a whole, and the case study is demonstrating the beneficial effect of switching to the renewable energy source. The scientific contribution of this paper will be to demonstrate the positive benefits of implementing biomass as an adequate energy source specifically in Morocco.
