Evaluation of morphological characteristics of testis-epididymis and their relationship with epididymal sperm parameters of Lori Black goat

This research aimed at finding, not only the relationship between testicle morphometric indices and epididymis but also is sperm features in the epididymis. For this purpose 53 pairs of Kohgilouye Va Boyerahmad native goat testicle in aged less than six months, 6 months to a year, one year to two years, two years to three years and three to four years collected from the Yasouj slaughterhouse and immediately transported to the laboratory. Then the morphometric feature of the testicles and epididymis and weight of these organs measured and then evaluate sperm characteristics, such as; concentration, active sperm precent, alive and normal, and examined the relationship of these feature with morphometric indicator. The results showed there is not a significant correlation between left and right testis weight with the percentage of the alive, dead and normal sperm. But there is significant correlation between the left and right testicular with sperms concentration. The weight, length, thickness, environment and width of left testicle were non-significantly higher than the right testicle. Also the weight, body length and tail length of right epididymis was more than left and the total length and head length of left epididymis was more than right. However the significant differences between left and right epididymis parameters were not observed at any age. The percentage of live sperm at the age of one to two years was higher than other age groups.
