Olhares sobre a Agrobiodiversidade na Produção Agroecológica em Santa Clara do Sul, RS

Agrobiodiversity comprises plant, animal and microorganism diversity, in close relationship with the human population, being food resources of great relevance for territorial development. Among the elements of agrobiodiversity are landrace seeds from different food cultures, unconventional food plants, native fruits, condiment and medicinal plants. Agrobiodiversity is closely associated with Agroecology and is fundamental for the promotion of Food and Nutritional Security. Thus, this work aimed to carry out a survey of the agrobiodiversity of plant species cultivated and commercialized by organic and agroecological farmers in Santa Clara do Sul, RS using semi-structured interviews. It was found that 122 vegetable species were produced in sustainable production systems, which, in addition to promoting nutritional quality to those who consume them, are important in the valorization of family farming, promoting regional development. At the same time, broadening views on Agrobiodiversity promotes Food and Nutritional Security for families and encourages the continuation and expansion of municipal programs that promote Agroecology in the Vale do Taquari.
