Abstract

Intestinal adenocarcinomas have low occurrence in veterinary medicine and are located preferentially in the large intestine. Clinical signs could be absent but in most cases are not specific and include depression, anorexia, vomiting and abdominal pain. This case report describes the clinical and pathological characteristics of an adenocarcinoma of the duodenum with lung metastasis in an eight-year-old female Golden Retriever. The animal presented decreased appetite, vomiting, diarrhea and weight loss. Clinical findings progressed to anorexia, persistent vomiting, jaundice, severe dyspnea and rales upon auscultation. The patient died four days after hospitalization. Based on the gross and microscopic findings, the diagnosis of duodenal mucinous adenocarcinoma with lung metastasis was established.
