Abstract
Three-phase squirrel cage induction motors are widely used in agriculture. This type of motor is used in electric drives of various electrified machines: grinders, pumps, electric saws, etc. In some cases farms are located in remote areas where single-phase power is the most common. In such case the necessity to start and operate a three-phase induction motor from a single-phase power may arise. Thus, an original device that enables to start and operate a three-phase induction motor from a single-phase power has been developed. This article presents the results of a study of the operation of a three-phase induction motor with a single-phase-to-three-phase transistor frequency converter. A simulation model of the developed electric drive was created in the Matlab Simulink environment. For the study, the parameters of a squirrel cage induction motors of the AIS56V4U3 brand were used. A comparison of the characteristics obtained during the operation of an electric drive with a transistor converter and capacitor start.
