Abstract
The metabolic rate for an ectotherm varies with ambient temperature. We measured the CO 2 production of Madagascar Hissing cockroaches at different temperatures. For our experiment, we measured the metabolic rate of three different groups with three different cockroaches at 25 °C, 30°C, 12°C. Based on our findings, the CO 2 production increases with higher temperature; therefore, the metabolic rate increases. This experiment shows how metabolic rate in ectotherms changes based on environmental temperatures.
