Abstract
This chapter presents social network approach to economic development. The main premise behind this approach is that well-connected individuals or groups are better able to mobilise resources to pursue the desired outcomes. The social network approach to economic development views that the nature and extent of social relations within communities and between communities and organisations shape economic development of communities. This approach asserts that communities that are internally cohesive, build network with outside organisations, and have mutually supporting relationships with state are more likely to achieve positive developmental outcomes.
