Piedmont and South Platte Valley in northeastern Colorado, and the southern end of the Texas High Plains in the vicinity of Lubbock form notable patches of significant intensity. In the more prominent East, the Middle West and Northeast form the most extensive block, although even here there are important variations. The western Corn Belt joins northern Illinois and southeastern Wisconsin to outline the largest single concentration of very high intensity in the Middle West. The structural aspects of the scale of agricultural industrialization can be studied as intensity. Land, cropping, and livestock variables follow, pretty much duplicating the sequence for intensity correlation averages. Mechanization and mechanized labor also stand out more sharply from the variable group, as do the livestock variables at the low end of the scale.
