Ron Weasley's Character Development in Jk Rowling's Harry Potter Series

Skripsi ini meneliti serial novel yang berjudul Harry Potter yang ditulis oleh J.K Rowling. Novel ini memiliki 7 seri yang menceritakan tentang perjalanan Harry Potter di Hogwarts, sebuah sekolah untuk penyihir dan dunia sihir itu sendiri. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisa lebih lanjut tentang perkembangan karakter Ron Weasley, salah satu karakter penting di serial Harry Potter dan untuk menemukan dan mengetahui betapa pentingnya dirinya di serialnya. Analisis dilakukan menggunakan pendekatan objektif yang mengutamakan analisa pada elemen intrinsik dalam sebuah karya literasi termasuk plot, karakter dan karakterisasi. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Ron Weasley mengalami perubahan bertahap dari buku pertama ke buku ketujuh. Lebih pentingnya, perubahan dan perkembanganannya tentu saja mempengaruhi jalan cerita dari serialnya secara signifikan. Awalnya Ron hanya terlihat seperti seorang penyihir biasa yang memiliki banyak masalah, dia lalu berubah menjadi penyihir dewasa yang mampu mengatasi kelemahannya dan tetap setiap sampai akhir petualangannya. This graduating paper examines Harry Potter novel series written by J.K Rowling. There are seven series telling about the journey of Harry Potter in Hogwarts, a school of witchcraft and wizardry and the Wizarding World. The objectives of this paper are to study the character development of Ron Weasley, one of the major characters in Harry Potter series and to find his significance in the series. The analysis is conducted using the objective approach which primarily analyzes the intrinsic elements of a literature work including the plot, character and characterization. The results of this research show that Ron Weasley experiences changes gradually from the first book to the seventh. More importantly, his changes and development of course significantly influence the plot of the series. When at first Ron seems like an average wizard who has a lot of issues, he turns into a fully grown wizard who is able to conquer his bad traits and stays loyal until the end of his adventure.
