Abstract

The presence of a catheter in the urinary tract is associated with a high risk of urinary tract infection. Therefore, special emphasis is placed on the prevention of catheter-related infections. Urinary catheter infections are the reason for the decrease in the patient’s sense of comfort, increase the need for staff supervision, extend hospitalization, and increase the financial outlays for patient treatment. The knowledge of the staff who care for a patient with a urinary catheter can significantly reduce the risk of infection.
