Abstract

[Objective]To realize the status of health literacy on basic knowledge and concepts among different characteristics populations in Chaoyang District of Beijing, analyze the influencing factors, and provide reference for carrying out health education.[Methods]A household survey was performed among 800 residents aged 15-69 years old, who were collected by using stratified multi-stage cluster sampling. The qualitative data were analyzed by the chi-square test, and multiple non-conditional logistic regression was used to evaluate the influencing factors. [Results]30.00% of residents had the health literacy on basic knowledge and concepts in Chaoyang District. The rate of health literacy on basic knowledge and concepts in 30-39 year-old age group was the highest. The people with better education level had higher level of health literacy. The correct answer rate of the correct understanding of osteoporosis was 7.13%. Logistic regression analysis showed the education level was the influencing factor of health literacy after other factors have been controlled. [Conclusion]It is necessary to strengthen the publicity and education on knowledge about chronic diseases, physical health and health rehabilitation, and carry out the health education among residents with lower education level, to improve the level of health literacy.
