Abstract

In order to improve stored dried fruits protection against pests, the population dynamics of Indian meal moth (Plodia interpunctella Hbn.), the most important pest of dried fruits in our country was followed. The insect density during the year was followed by pheromon traps for Indian meal moth produced by company Agrisense BCS. The population of males were observed during summer months in laboratory (simmilar to stored facilities). Results showed that traps detect the initial population of insects and it can be important indicator of the presence of insects in the storage. Insect populations can be follow up in the object throughout the year, but the traps are not enough to attract all the males, prevent copulation, egg laying and damage.
