Abstract
The purpose of this chapter is to explain the factors that contributed to the expansion of inward foreign direct investment (FDI) in the Republic of Korea and to describe the impacts of inward FDI on the competitiveness of the country’s economy in recent years. A deeper analysis of this issue is critical in order to identify the economic effects of inward FDI for host economies. This chapter hypothesizes that inward FDI has positive impacts on host economies. From this perspective, governments of host economies are encouraged to establish policies conducive to inward FDI.
