Political ecology: Contribution to foundation of politicology discipline

The paper shows a short review of the development of the ecology and other environmental (ecological) sciences. From general ecology that is understood as a natural science to social ecology as one of sub disciplines of sociology. Complication of political relations and environmental problems in society of 20th and 21st century inevitably caused social and scientific need for these complex relations between society and nature to be explored within a new scientific discipline - a political ecology. The paper also shows the scientific dilemmas, different views, opinions and definitions that concern the subjects of studies of political ecology and its position in the wider system of sciences. One of the basic questions is if the political ecology is one of the disciplines of political economy, geography and political anthropology or it is a political discipline. The Author believes that it is possible to define political ecology as a discipline of politicology which subject is the influence of politics, po­litical ideologies, political phenomena, political relations, institutions and other subjects of political life to the way society relates to environment and how specific and non specific environmental problems influence and change politics.
