Abstract

Twoparalytic shellfish toxins, gonyautoxin V and gonyautoxin VI, isolated from a tropical dinoflagellate, Pyrodinium bahamense var.compressa, were identified respectively to be derivatives of saxitoxin and neosaxitoxin with a sulfonatocarbamoyl moiety.Paralytic shellfish poisoning is one of the most notorious marine food poisonings prevalent in many parts of the world including Japanese coastal waters.The dinoflagellates Protogonyaulax tamarensis and P. catenella
