Abstract

A modified inset-feed microstrip patch antenna is proposed in this paper to miniaturize the antenna size. The miniaturization is carried out by incorporating fractal structures in the patch of the antenna. The antenna is designed to operate at 2.4 GHz in ISM band. A size reduction of 78.11% is achieved in this proposed antenna. The performance of the miniaturized antenna has been improved by introducing one slot DGS under the patch area i.e. on the other side of substrate. The antenna is designed using FR4 substrate and Ansoft HFSS14.0 is used for simulation and analysis of the proposed antenna. The fabricated antenna is measured. There is a good agreement between the simulated and measured responses.
