Abstract
SUMMARYThe perfect stage of Marssonina rhabdospora (Ell. & Ev.) Magn. which occurs on the leaves of P. grandidentata and P. tremuloides is described as a new species under the name Pleuroceras populi. Cultures obtained from ascospores produced conidia which were typical of those found in nature on the host plants.The perfect and spermatial stages of Septogloeum rhopaloideum Dearn. & Bisby, which occur most commonly on P. tremuloides, are described, and P. tacamahaca (P. balsamifera) is reported as an additional host. The name Guignardia populi is given to the perfect stage.
