The question of influence of opposition groups on world politics is studied in the article. The author gives short historiographical review of main works dedicated to the interaction between authority and opposition, lists basic classifications of oppositional groups and analyzes their main functions. The peculiarities, problems and contradictions of opposition development are shown by the examples of opposition groups in Poland and Belorussia.
