Abstract

The coffee bean sorting machine is a coffee bean size separator from coffee that has gone through several processes such as, milling cherries (freshly picked fruit from coffee trees), washing, clothesline, grinding grain (ground cherries) into pumpkins (the result of grain milling). The purpose of the research is designed to build a coffee bean sorter, to facilitate coffee farmers in sorting or separating the size of coffee beans as well as increase post-harvest production. The method used in this study refers to the experiment and designing a coffee bean sorting machine conducted in the mechanical technology laboratory on the mechanical engineering study program of Faculty engineering in Abulyatama university. The results obtained from this machine research are able to produce coffee beans with a capacity of 40 kg in just 40 minutes, where the machine produces arabica coffee beans with three variants including King Gayo, Green Bean, Pure Arabica.
